In the summer of 2016 the United Nations declared the Internet to be a human right. A noble declaration, but for print impaired people like me, the feel-good words of a global cause and everyday life can be so different that we feel like we aren’t even part of the conversation.
Here at Pneuma Solutions, we support any campaign to put information into the hands of as many people as possible; however, it has been our experience that making information available and making it accessible to the letter of the law are two different issues and need to be considered as such when discussing access to information by those of us that have print disabilities. Sure, information should be available in as an accessible medium as possible, but costly exact compliance to interpretable standards should never be allowed to get in the way of access to information. That is why we started Pneuma Solutions and furthermore why we are announcing our remediation tool called Scribe For Personal Documents.
So, what is a print disability anyway?
Individuals who cannot effectively read print because of a visual, physical, perceptual, developmental, cognitive, or learning disability” are classified as print disabled.
What does that look like in real life?
- When was the last time you purchased a product and were not able to read the user manual to learn how to set it up?
- When was the last time you checked out of a hotel and were not able to review your invoice for itemized charges?
- When was the last time you received a chart from your doctor and were not able to read the treatment plan privately?
These are not hypothetical scenarios. For millions of print impaired consumers, this is reality. Pneuma Solutions can help.

You may have heard talk of work we have been doing in the accessible meeting space. That’s just the beginning of our long term goals. With every release of a new product based on our Augmented Remediation platform, we get one step closer to equal access to information, communication, and entertainment for everyone with a print disability.
We look forward to a day when all companies get on board. It shouldn’t take crazy amounts of time, and a major part of the annual budget to make content accessible to print impaired consumers of that content. That’s where Pneuma Solutions is changing the landscape of content remediation. But when will that day get here?
Convincing companies to embrace those of us with a print disability as part of a corporate plan for inclusion can be a bit of a challenge. But, we are encouraged when the largest Universities and government agencies adopt our technology and with it our ideology of a totally inclusive digital world where accessibility is the norm. The cost of 100% only human content remediation can be staggering for most small to medium size organizations. We are proving that computer remediated content in many cases can do the trick. We believe that ultimately we will prove that point to organizations as our technology gets better year over year but what about now? I mean, are we as a community supposed to wait until the rest of the World is forced through legal procedures, public shaming, or there own corporate awareness to have access to digital information at the same time as every other person?
Remove the chains!
Now you don’t need to be bound by a company’s accessibility standards, or lack there of. We are putting the same tools the big guys use into your hands at a price that doesn’t break the bank. You do not have to wait for your bank, doctor, university, or retail store to get on the bandwagon. With a few simple clicks, the power of our augmented remediation can be yours.
If the Augmented Remediation doesn’t do the trick. No worries! Not only can we provide human document remediation direct to the consumer for over 50% less per page than corporations pay, but with as little as 3 business day turnaround, you will never again be left in digital darkness.
Let’s put this in context. When some of you attended college, you likely hired a reader to help consume information not readily available in a digital format. Or, you likely spent hours with a flatbed scanner to turn your textbook into digital pages you could later peruse. The problem with the first approach is that unless you recorded your human reader, it’s likely you would forget key information. The problem with the second approach is that your flatbed scanner was only as good as its last software update.
Smart OCR that keeps on learning.
The beautiful thing about living in the 21st century is that you no longer have to make compromises. Scribe for Documents does not rely on infrequent updates to improve OCR. It relies on machine learning to improve result quality with each page it scans, not just from you but from customers around the world. The harder it works, the smarter it gets, and you don’t have to worry about the service running late or calling in sick.
But, let’s say you have a document with complicated charts or graphs where accuracy is paramount. Your subscription plan gives you access to human remediators who can go that extra step in delivering the results you need in just a few days.
Powerful, easy to use, fast and affordable.
When we decided to make our enterprise grade product available to consumers, we understood three things: First, we could not skimp on features our corporate clients have grown to love. Second, we needed to preserve the speed that has made Scribe so appealing to large scale workflows, and third, we could not make this option a financial burden. With feedback from the community, we believe we have created a sweet spot that puts you in the driver’s seat.
Using the technology is as easy as using a website on your computer, mobile device, even your Braille notetaker.
For as little as 10¢ per page, you can harness the power of our augmented remediation engine.
For as little as $7 a page, you can take advantage of accurate/speedy, human remediation, if you even need it.
All you do is fund your account. You choose the subscription plan, or number of credits, that makes the most sense. Ready to give it a shot? Visit ScribeIt.io!

John Jacques says
Greeting, my name is John Jacques in Arizona. I just finished watching the excellent video pneuma solutions workshop and I am impressed with RIM, and the capabilities of Scribe for Documents. My question is, it seems that there is no afordible option for someone who might want to occasionally render a document accessible, but for whom $250 a year is way out of there budget. I have had the occasional need to read a user manual for an older piece of equipment, that might come to 40 pages or so. For me, even a monthly subscription would be way more than I need, or could afford.
Sincerely:
John
