Pneuma Solutions Brings Free Document Accessibility Program to Canadian Classrooms

Canadian teachers of the visually impaired can now apply for free access to Scribe, Pneuma Solutions’ document conversion service, for K–12 classroom materials. Approved teachers can upload documents and get tagged PDF, HTML, braille, large print, EPUB, DAISY, and MP3 outputs. The DAISY format works with compatible talking book devices such as the Victor Reader Stream.

“I grew up blind, and I know what it’s like to be in a classroom without the material everyone else is using,” said CEO Mike Calvo. “Teachers need practical tools to get those materials into students’ hands while the lesson is still happening.”

Most of Pneuma’s team is blind or visually impaired, bringing firsthand experience to its accessibility work.

The free program covers automated conversion and requires annual re-verification. It’s meant for individual educators, not district-wide archives. Human remediation is available for a fee when needed.

Educators can apply with a school email at https://pneumasolutions.com/scribefortvis/.
