Mike Calvo

Mike Calvo, CEO and Co-Founder

Mike Calvo’s mission to create affordable, accessible solutions for people with disabilities began in 2001 when he founded Serotek Corporation, known as “The Accessibility Anywhere People.” Driven by the high cost of assistive technology, Mike sought to provide powerful, intuitive, and affordable products that would improve the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals.

As a pioneer in cloud-based accessibility, Mike led Serotek to develop the industry’s first cross-platform, cloud-based products, making accessibility both portable and affordable worldwide. His efforts not only introduced groundbreaking tools but also challenged other companies to offer more affordable solutions, pushing the industry toward greater inclusion.

In addition to his work in technology, Mike founded the Accessibility Is a Right (AIR) Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for accessibility as a basic human right. Through this foundation, Mike promotes education and tools that empower individuals with disabilities.

Mike is also the author of Cloudy with a Chance of Profit, an Amazon e-book exploring the impact of cloud technology on global business and culture.

Today, as the co-founder of Pneuma Solutions, Mike continues to lead the charge in accessibility innovation, taking cloud-based solutions to the network infrastructure level and incorporating machine learning. His vision remains clear: to build a more accessible world for blind and print-disabled individuals worldwide.

Matt Campbell, CTO and Co-Founder

Matt Campbell is a visually impaired software developer who has been advancing accessibility technology since the late 1990s. His career began with contributions to the Linux desktop operating system, aiming to create affordable alternatives to the expensive assistive technologies available for Windows at the time.

In 2001, Matt joined Mike Calvo at Serotek, where he played a pivotal role in making accessibility more affordable and user-friendly. His innovative approach led to groundbreaking features, such as enabling web browsing without switching modes to fill out forms using the System Access screen reader.

Matt is also the creator of System Access to Go, a revolutionary screen reader that runs directly from a web browser on any Windows PC, requiring no installation. This innovation, offered free through the Accessibility Is a Right (AIR) foundation, allows blind and print-disabled individuals to make any PC accessible, anywhere in the world.

He further developed Serotek’s Remote Incident Manager (RIM) and Remote Access Manager (RAM), which empower blind IT professionals to provide technical support and training to both blind and sighted users.

Matt’s expertise spans multiple platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Amazon Alexa, and web-based environments. His work continued at Microsoft, where he joined the Windows Accessibility Team in 2017. There, he contributed to key improvements in the Narrator screen reader and the Windows UI Automation API, helping enhance the accessibility of complex applications for both built-in and third-party assistive technologies.

In 2020, Matt reunited with Mike Calvo to co-found Pneuma Solutions, where he now serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), driving the development of cutting-edge cloud-based accessibility solutions.

In 2021, Matt also initiated the AccessKit project with support from Google Fonts. This cross-platform accessibility infrastructure has already been integrated into the Egui toolkit and the Bevy game engine, making Bevy the first general-purpose game engine with built-in accessibility. AccessKit is poised to extend its impact across additional platforms, including iOS, Android, and Unity, further advancing the accessibility landscape.
